Book I am reading...
Out of Our Minds: Learning to Be Creative by Ken Robinsonout of our minds

Ken Robinson poses the following questions:
Why is it essential to promote creativity?
What's the problem? Why do so many adults think they're not creative?
What should be done?

I'll share reflections when I complete the book...

Do Schools Kill Creativity?

Sir Ken Robinson makes an entertaining (and profoundly moving) case for creating an education system that nurtures creativity:

“Children starting in school this year will be retiring around 2065.”

“Creativity now is as important in education as literacy and we should treat it with the same status.”

“If you are not prepared to be wrong, you will never come up with anything original.”

“We are running our education systems where mistakes are the worst things you can make.”

“The result is we are educating people out of their creative capacities.”
“Creativity is the process of having original ideas that have value and more often than not comes about through the interaction of different disciplinary ways of seeing things.”

With only right and wrong answers, where is there any real room for discovery, for coming up with new ways of doing things thus new avenues of getting things done? We need not diminish the arts in primary education but expand it - but please - no standardized testing here.

he makes a lot of interesting points and i find him very exciting. everyone has a creative side but i believe that they are afraid to use it or they are afraid of the looks or people being judgemental against their art work.
